All A/C units produce water in their “sump pans”. There are
three different methods for evacuation:
The original models use a water bucket stored in the
bottom of the unit. they're still available but you
are seeing less and less of this model. It must be
emptied by you every 2-8 hours depending on
usage and the humidity level outside.
Self Evaporation technology:
water vapor is exhausted along with the hot air.
CAUTION. On humid
days the storage tank will need to be emptied by
you. Unit will not run until its emptied.
Condensate Pump: attached to a small hose inside of the hot air
duct which pumps all the extra water that the self
Evap technology can not handle. The small hose discharges to
the outside.
